If you happen to follow me on Instagram, you have probably concluded that I love lipsticks. If you don’t follow me on Instagram, first let me say “shame on you” and secondly let me say, “I love lipstick”. I love red lipsticks, I love nude lipsticks, and I love pinks and I love corals. I love all the colors. I want all the colors. Give me all the colors!
This is where some people might go into how they wear light and bright colors during the spring and summer months, then transition into plums and deep reds during the fall and winter months… well I live in the middle of a Southern California desert and its Summer seventy five percent of the time here, so I don’t subscribe to those “rules”, and I feel like less and less people are. I mean, it was one hundred fifteen degrees out the other day and I wore a greige dark lip because I freaking felt like it. I’ll wear a bright purple color to Thanksgiving dinner if I feel like it because I’m a rebel damn it. Choosing my lippie color is about how I feel that day and the look that I am going for, not bizarre seasonal fashion rules.
Lipstick (and sometimes gloss) is amazing. When the twins were teeny tiny hellion babies that never slept and cried All. The. Damn. Time. It was amazing how much a little BB cream and some lipstick made me feel. Even just at home, where the only people who would see me couldn’t even focus their eyes yet, slapping on a beautiful red lip just made a world of difference. As a new, and shell shocked, mom that small bit of self care helped me get through the day and not feel so frumpy in stretched out yoga pants and tops were personalized with baby vom.
I thought that I would take some time to share some of my current favorite lipsticks with you, and sense I somewhat recently cleared out my stash, almost all of them are current favorites. I will link to the product websites as much as I am able. I will talk about some of the shades, but as I am sure that are figuring out, I have a lot of lip color so I'll just hit the ones that I think are really worth pointing out.
My Nudes:
Coloured Raine Matte Lip Paint in Marshmallow- This is the "greige" that I mentioned earlier. I love this color. It reminds me of MAC's Stone bullet lipstick, but it stays on through baby kisses and cups of coffee.
Sonia Kashuk Satin Luxe in Barely Nude.
NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream in London (soft taupe)- This is like a "beginner's" matte. It is a great price point, non drying, and a little sheer.
Kat Von D Everlasting Liquid Lipstick in "Bow n' Arrow".
Coloured Raine Matte Lip Paint in Sugar- This is my favorite nude that I currently have. Favorite. It has great coverage, is super matte, and stays on from morning until lunch (if you ever see me eat you will understand why almost NO lip color stands a chance). Super flattering alone, but looks great with a little gloss on top as well. This is a repurchase for sure.
Dose of Colors Lipstick in Coy- I was iffy about including this product, but it is really great quality and suuuuper pigmented for a pretty reasonable price. It just isn't a color that I like to wear on its own. It is a pretty peachy color and very shiney. I actually like to use it on top of the center of my lips with the Sugar matte color I mentioned above.

Kat Von D Studded Kiss Lipstick in Lovecraft- Ok, so one time I was at Disneyland with my family and we stopped to eat (drink) dinner at the bar in the middle of Downtown Disney and I decided that taking a walk through Sephora afterwards was a good idea and I ended up buying a set of six mini studded kiss lipsticks. As much as I didn't want to buy into the hype I could not help it. This lipstick is one of my favorites of all time. It is matte, but not as drying as a liquid color; it smells nice, it is very pigmented, and this shade is such a pretty muave. I just love it. I wear this all the time. I went out and bought the full size I love it so much.
Rimmel London Show Off Lip Velvet in Atomic Rose- This is aight. Similar to the NYX product earlier.. even though it is a "rose" it pulls a little orange on me.
Kat Von D Everlasting Liquid Lipstick in Double Dare.
Kat Von D Studded Kiss Lipstick in Lolita- I love this almost as much as I love Lovecraft. Wear it all the time, and Patience always tells me that she loves my pretty pink lips.
Maybelline Color Sensations in Shocking Coral- I have had this color since the line was released (yes I keep my lippies for fucking ever). I Love this for a super minimal face and bold lip when I run errands or am just in a super big hurry or too tired to bother with more.
MAC Amplified in Show Orchid- I actually almost never ever wear this color but it makes me feel cool and very "un-mom" to own it so I have been holding on to it.
My Reds (and two oranges that I didn't want to swatch separately):
Revlon Ultra HD Lipstick in Geranium- This is a nice shade of orange. I wanted to include it here because it is sheer, but buildable, and AND it feels like a lip balm. So easy to wear.
Kat Von D Studded Kiss Lipstick in Countess- I am so predictable.
Kat Von D Studded Kiss Lipstick in Motorhead- I freaking love this color. It is almost black and it reminds me of the colors that my best friend and I used to line our lips with to go to the mall when we wer thirteen. Love it.
Urban Decay Revolution Lipstick in Shame.
MAC in Diva-This is just a staple of every lipstick hoarder.
Kat Von D Studded Kiss Lipstick in Hexagram- This is tied for one of my most favorite reds ever. Ever. Ever ever. It is matte blood red and it makes me feel like a bad ass bitch that can take on the world and wear the skulls of my enemies as accessories.
Dose of Colors Matte Lipstick in Merlot- Here is what is tied with Hexagram. This product is not for a liquid lipstick novice. Once you put it on it. does. not. come. off. Like the swatch will still be on my wrist tomorrow. it is such a beautiful "true" red and just has a glam retro feel. I love it. When I wear this Patience calls it my red queen lips. Enough said. **Edit: I used a make up wipe, worked out, slept, and still had some of this color showing when I woke up this morning**
Ok. Wow. I have a lot of lip color. In fact, I will have another one in a few days because linking to all of these products was too tempting and I just ordered a new liquid lipstick. R.I.P. savings account (insert crying emoji here).
